Mercatale Val di Pesa – The Heart of the Marathon

Located in the municipality of San Casciano in Val di Pesa, Mercatale is the starting and finishing point of the race. This lively village, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, is the perfect base to explore the area, enjoy wine tastings, scenic walks, or traditional Tuscan dinners.

Take a relaxing stroll through the historic center with its medieval walls, charming buildings, and the Giuliano Ghelli Museum. Local wine bars and enotecas offer excellent opportunities to sample Chianti Classico wines.

Greve in Chianti and Montefioralle

Greve, known as the “Gateway to Chianti,” features the beautiful Piazza Matteotti, lined with arcades, artisan shops, and the Wine Museum. Just minutes away is Montefioralle, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, where cobblestone streets and breathtaking views take you back in time.

Barberino Tavarnelle

This area includes two picturesque villages: Tavarnelle Val di Pesa and Barberino Val d’Elsa. Don’t miss the Romanesque churches, the medieval atmosphere, and panoramic views of the Chianti hills.

Badia a Passignano

A spiritual and enchanting destination surrounded by vineyards and prestigious wineries. This ancient abbey, still inhabited by monks, can be visited by appointment.
