The Chianti Classico Marathon 2023 is also valid as the 1st Sara Bartoli Memorial.
The organizing staff of the event has decided to reward the youngest woman who will arrive first at the finish line of the 46 km ultra-trail.
Sara Bartoli, 30, athlete from Mercatale in Val di Pesa was the testimonial of the event in 2018 as the protagonist of the promo video, unfortunately on 27 July 2022 while she was training on via Grevigiana sp 92, in the stretch that goes from San Casciano towards Mercatale, she was hit by a car. Immediately rescued, the injuries sustained in the impact were too serious.
She graduated in Food Science and Nutrition, she was well known as an Obstacle Course Race champion, races on obstacle courses that are also carried out in the mud and she also wore the national team shirt. In 2019 she had also participated on TV in ‘The usual unknown’. A very active girl also on social channels where she was very popular.
In memory of Sara Bartoli, the staff has decided to dedicate the long distance by rewarding the youngest woman who will reach the finish line with a special plaque.
