In the race pack of the 2023 edition of the Chianti Classico Marathon, the runners will once again find a bottle of Chianti Classico DOCG wine.
This time the chosen bottle is a Castello di Gabbiano 2020, with an alcohol content of 13.5% produced with vines for 90% Sangiovese, 5% merlot, 5% native red berried vines.
Elegant and fresh grapes and good minerality are some of the main characteristics of this wine. The color is intense ruby red, with beautiful clarity and floral hints of fresh violets, fruity hints of morello cherry jam, and spicy hints of black pepper and sweet spices with light woody fragrances.
When you taste it, the taste is dry, soft and full with evident tannins; the freshness is measured but decisive, excellent persistence of taste and smell.
It is perfect in combination with well-sauced first courses, stuffed with meat, risotto with wild mushrooms, spiced red meats, Tuscan-style pork loin, fricassee of stewed wild mushrooms, truffled or medium-aged hard cheeses.
The ideal serving temperature is 18° degrees.
